National ratings underscore WMCHealth’s role in expanding access to high-quality specialty care in the Hudson Valley region

VALHALLA, NY – August 5, 2026 Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) today announced that two of its hospitals have earned national “High Performing” ratings in the 2026-2027 Best Hospitals edition of U.S. News & World Report. Westchester Medical Center was recognized for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma care, and heart arrhythmia care; Good Samaritan Hospital (effective July 15, 2026, a licensed campus of Westchester Medical Center), was recognized for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. In 2026, U.S. News also designated both hospitals as High Performing for maternity care, as well.

“High Performing” is the highest rating U.S. News awards for Procedures & Conditions. Fewer than half of evaluated hospitals receive the designation for any rated area of care.

The ratings are intended to help patients and their physicians compare hospitals for common procedures and serious conditions using objective measures such as outcomes, complications and patient experience.

“Patients across the Hudson Valley deserve access to exceptional care close to home, and these recognitions affirm the expertise and commitment of our teams,” said David Lubarsky, MD, MBA, FASA, President and Chief Executive Officer of WMCHealth. “We are proud that Westchester Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital have earned this national distinction for the advanced care they provide to our communities.”

“When patients face a major surgery or a chronic medical condition, having access to clear, quality data is vital,” said U.S. News’ Managing Editor and Chief of Health Analysis Ben Harder.“ A ‘High Performing’ rating means that Westchester Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital outperformed a national threshold, giving families a reliable starting point as they consult with their doctors to choose the best place for care.”

U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions for the 2026-2027 Best Hospitals edition. Its ratings and rankings are based on objective measures, including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology use data from more than 800 million records of patient care.
