Ophthalmology Residency Program

Decorative background image

Sponsored by New York Medical College (NYMC) with significant training taking place at Westchester Medical Center (WMCHealth), the Ophthalmology Residency offers outstanding surgical training in a high-acuity, academic environment.

The Ophthalmology Residency Matching Program was established in 1977 by the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) to coordinate the PGY-2 appointments for ophthalmology training programs.

The AUPO sponsors the matching process and is responsible for enforcement of applicable rules. The function of SF Match is strictly limited to processing the match.

The Ophthalmology Interviews take place in December and Matching Program takes place in January which will be used to process all applicants who want to start their residency training in July of the following academic year. Applicants are responsible for ensuring they meet all prerequisites for eligibility prior to registering for the match.

All applicants must complete PGY-1 prerequisite training in an ACGME approved program prior to beginning PGY-2 Ophthalmology Residency. SF Match’s Central Application Service (CAS) distributes complete applications to programs electronically.
