Hospital ranked among nation’s best children’s hospital for pediatric cancer, No. 5 in New York State and No. 16 in the Mid-Atlantic Region
VALHALLA, N.Y. — (September 17, 2026) – Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital has been named one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals for pediatric cancer by U.S. News & World Report, earning national recognition in the 2026–2027 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital also earned additional honors as the No. 5 children’s hospital in New York State and No. 16 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Together, the rankings recognize Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital as one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals for pediatric cancer and one of the top pediatric hospitals in both New York State and the Mid-Atlantic Region. The recognition also marks the second consecutive year the hospital has been nationally ranked for pediatric cancer and ranked as a Best Children’s Hospital in New York State and the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital provides advanced care for children across a wide range of specialties, including some of the most complex pediatric conditions. Its multidisciplinary teams bring together specialists from across the hospital to provide coordinated, family-centered care.
The hospital’s pediatric hematology and oncology specialists diagnose and treat children and adolescents with cancers including leukemia, lymphoma and brain tumors, as well as blood disorders. The program provides access to advanced therapies and clinical trials and serves as an internationally recognized research center for childhood cancer and blood diseases.
The rankings come as Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital continues to expand its work in advanced pediatric care, including pediatric cancer care and research. The hospital was previously designated by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a National Pediatric Center of Excellence.
For the 2026–2027 rankings, U.S. News, together with RTI International, a North Carolina-based research firm, collected and analyzed data from 114 children’s hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists. Children’s hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, compliance with established best practices, and level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care.
