Vishad V. Sukul, MD is the section chief of Functional and Epilepsy Neurosurgery for the Westchester Medical Center Health Network and is faculty within the Department of Neurosurgery at Westchester Medical Center. He is a fellowship trained, board certified neurosurgeon and a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Sukul's practice focuses on the comprehensive care of adult neurosurgical conditions within functional and restorative neurosurgery, including the surgical management of epilepsy, movement disorders, chronic pain and spasticity. He specializes in and has extensive experience performing procedures such as deep brain stimulation, minimally invasive epilepsy surgery, and neuromodulation procedures including spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pumps. 

Dr. Sukul received his medical degree from Rutgers University: New Jersey Medical School. He completed his postgraduate training in neurosurgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, followed by a fellowship in stereotactic, functional and epilepsy neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. 

Dr. Sukul's research focuses on clinical outcomes in neuromodulation and large dataset analysis of functional neurosurgery trends. He is also interested in the applications of augmented and virtual reality tools in the operative setting. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and books, and he has been invited to lecture both regionally and nationally.

Dr. Sukul is a dedicated teacher and mentor to both the neurosurgical residents and medical students at WMC/NYMC, and is experienced in the training of functional neurosurgery fellows, residents and other surgical colleagues. He is actively involved in teaching neuromodulation techniques at the regional and national levels through the various national societies.

Dr. Sukul is extremely patient focused, offering his patients the latest surgical techniques in movement disorder surgery, epilepsy surgery, and the surgical management of chronic pain. He is currently accepting new patients and referrals at Westchester Medical Center's Valhalla Campus.
