High-Tech, Low-Radiation Imaging at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital

Posted By: Advancing Care

At the newly opened pediatric fluoroscopy suite at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), patients receive the top-quality diagnostic imaging they need — and less of the radiation they don’t. Fluoroscopy, a video X-ray, is useful for examining everything from broken bones to the gastrointestinal tract, but children’s bodies are especially sensitive to the radiation the procedure involves. With the suite’s state-of-the-art technology, images are obtained with the lowest amount of radiation currently possible, all while children enjoy ambient lighting, soothing sounds and video monitors that play animated scenes, all selected by the child. This state-of-the-art imaging suite was built by the community for its children through generous donations to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaigns.
