The Westchester Medical Center Health Network's Heart & Vascular Institute welcomes cardiologist Louis I. Heller, MD, FACC, FSCAI, to the Institute's cardiology team in Kingston.
Dr. Heller joins cardiologists Ellis W. Lader, MD, FACC, and Aneta D. Dimova, MD, FACC, at the Institute's offices at 111 Mary's Ave. at HealthAlliance Hospital: Mary's Avenue Campus. The office phone number is 845-339-3663.
Dr. Heller sees adult patients in Kingston for a wide range of conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome,
angina, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, valvular heart disease and congenital heart disease.
His patients also benefit from access to a broad range of advanced cardiovascular services, and many other disciplines, at WMCHealth's flagship Westchester Medical Center and other network facilities.
Dr. Heller — board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine — was most recently director of interventional cardiology at Northwell Health's Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, N.Y., on Long Island. Before that, he was director of cardiac catheterization and structural heart service at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Ga., near Atlanta.
While on Long Island, Dr. Heller was also an assistant professor of cardiology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Hempstead.
Dr. Heller, a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, affiliated with WMCHealth flagship Westchester Medical Center and the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Long Island Jewish–Hillside Medical Center in New Hyde Park, N.Y., now Northwell Health's Zucker Hillside Hospital.
He followed his residency with three clinical and research fellowships — one in cardiovascular medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook; another in nuclear cardiology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, now the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons; and a third in interventional cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.
Originally from Flushing, Queens, he now lives in Rhinebeck.
