Thousands of Walkers, One Terrific Cause

Posted By: Advancing Care

Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), in Valhalla, held its annual Go the Distance Walk and Family Fun Day on May 7, drawing thousands of participants and raising more than $295,000. The event, which is the hospital’s largest fundraiser of the year, kicked off with a casual mile-long walk around the campus and continued with a morning of fun, family-friendly activities. Though the processional is traditionally led by a single Grand Marshal, this time around, three very special patients were chosen to lead the way. Kaylee Fried, 7, of Harriman, Zechia Mickler, 5, of Beacon, and Tyrus Castrovinci, 6, of the Bronx, did the honors: All three received lifesaving care at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
